Stryxis

Background

Stryxis
Like many races of the Koronus Expanse, the origin of this Xenos Race is still unknown. They have a reputation as wanderers, traders, merchants and rumour mongers, and they travel the spaceways of the Expanse in their massive convoys that consist primarily of scavenged Imperial or Chaos vessels that they have modified to serve their own unfathomable purposes.

A Stryxis is a truly revolting sight to most humans, being multi-eyed, hunchbacked creatures that resemble an over-cooked embryo. Fortunately for their trading partners they almost always swathe themselves in thick layers of cloth and collected odds and ends. No one knows how Stryxis reproduce, or even if there are gender differentiation in their speies.

Stryxis Caravans occasionally pass by Footfall, but never visit the station in person instead requiring any prospective clients to visit them. Though rumours tell of the Stryxis being untrustworthy, most Rogue Traders will begrudgingly admit that the Stryxis weasel out of their contracts through exact interpretation of their legal documents, leading some to speculate that these rumours stem from sour grapes rather than anything else. The terms of a Stryxis compact are unpredictable, sometimes they will trade ancient archeotech for the most trivial of items, sometimes they will demand Grand Cruisers for a rumour.

Most technology that the Stryxis are seen using are scavenged technology from the Imperium, leading the casual observer to believe they have no technology of their own. In fact their own technology is a closely guarded secret that they are reluctant to trade to anyone, even for seemingly extravagant proposals. The only known Stryxis technology that has been parted with are their vat-grown organic Servitors, and a technology with which such servitors can be controlled remotely. They will only ever sell and implant such things in person though, the means through which they are created are still a tightly controlled secret.
