House Rules for Crafting

Requirements

  • Facilities: You must have an appropriate, dedicated facility for creating the supplies that you want. If you do not have such a facility you can throw it together yourself, but you will face a penalty.
    • No Facility: You suffer a -20 penalty to all Trade tests. Your base crafting level is Ubiquitous.
    • Poor Facility: You suffer a -10 penalty to all Trade tests. Your base crafting level is Abundant.
    • Average Facility: You suffer no penalty or bonus to Trade tests. Your base crafting level is Plentiful.
    • Good Facility: You suffer a +10 bonus to all Trade tests. Your base crafting level is Common.
    • Best Facility: You suffer a +20 bonus to all Trade tests. Your base crafting level is Average.
  • Trade Skill: You are required to have a Trade skill for the appropriate item you are attempting to craft. As you improve your Trade skill, you may craft better and better items. All bonuses are cumulative (Talented +20 gives you a 3 extra crafting levels).
    • Basic: You can craft at one level below the base crafting level for your facility.
    • Skilled: You can craft at the base crafting level for your facility.
    • Skill +10: You can craft at one extra level above the base crafting level for your facility.
    • Skill +20: You can craft at one extra level above the base crafting level for your facility.
    • Talented: You can craft at one extra level above the base crafting level for your facility.
  • Materials: You will need to make Acquisition tests to get materials for your crafting endeavours. This is an otherwise normal Acquisition test at the rarity of supplies you want. You must specify which “Trade” you are acquiring for.
    • Requirements: You need a Cargo Hold in order to hold these supplies. Every “point” of materials you acquire has a cost that is subtracted from the available Trade Endeavour. You may not exceed your cargo hold supply space.
  • Crafting: By default you can only craft single items in your facility.
    • Skill Roll: Use the Trade Modifiers from the table below, and add or subtract them as appropriate to your Trade Skill. Then make one roll against your Trade Skill to determine if you succeed or not.
    • Time: Find your time modifier on the table below. For every two degrees of success on your Skill Roll, you may move up one step on the chart. If this would push you above Ubiquitous, then for every extra Degree of Success you may craft an additional item.
